The Borussia Dortmund star has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester for some time and is set to become Pep Guardiola’s first acquisition as manager of Manchester City. The €26m (£20m) fee could eventually rise to €29m but the signing does appear to be a steal, even with the midfielder’s history of injury problems.Ilkay Gundogan has started only 45 Bundesliga games in his last three seasons and injury is expected to keep him out of the first team until mid-September.

A Manchester City midfield revolution
Pep Guardiola is expected to bring some massive changes to the Manchester City first team, with the central midfield position in need of some obvious improvements.
The ageing Yaya Toure is expected to be sold whilst the limited Fernando will probably not be popular with a manager renowned for his attractive football.
Pep Guardiola has enjoyed strength in depth in midfield at Barcelona and Bayern Munich and will probably want to recreate that in Manchester.
