Liverpool remain light at the back, with Jurgen Klopp saying he did not think Dejan Lovren had any chance of recovering from his thigh injury to face United. The Croatian also missed the Champions League draw with Bayern Munich, as did Virgil van Dijk but the Dutchman is set to return at Old Trafford. Joe Gomez remains sidelined, however, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is not expected back until late next month either.

Mohamed Salah – While he has suffered some indifferent form in this fixture, the Egyptian does go into the game having scored his 20th goal of the season in Liverpool’s last league win.
Sadio Mane – Scored the first goal in each of Liverpool’s last three league games, having also opened the scoring against United at Anfield in December.
Virgil van Dijk – With United in resurgent form up front, Liverpool will need their giant Dutch centre-back fully fit and firing for this game.
