Barcelona vs Levante

Barcelona is at home, and they are taking on a team that is fighting relegation. In normal circumstances, this would be an open-and-shut win for the Blaugrana. But it’s not such a time. Barca is hosting Liverpool in the mid-week, as part of their Champions League semifinal, first leg. The team has the league all wrapped up and needs just three more points from the remaining four match-days.

If Ernesto Valverde has learned anything from his Roma debacle last year, we can expect almost the Barca B team for the Levante fixture. For sure, at the Camp Nou, the team would try to secure the needed three points, and thus the title, but Levante will not be a roll-over, especially since they are racing away from the cut-off line fast looming behind.

Barcelona vs Levante Prediction

We cannot treat this as an ordinary Barca game at the Camp Nou. Take into account that we will probably be seeing a lot of youngsters and benchwarmers from the potential and defending champions. Sure, it does help that the match is at home for Barca, but Levante is desperate for points, whereas Barca will be playing relaxed. They just need to win one of their last four matches in the league, to secure the title.

Also, Levante seems to have figured out the way to play spoilsport to Barca’s plans. Last season, at the brink of securing an invincible league season, Levante defeated the Catalans with a 5-4 scoreline. This Saturday, Barca will be missing much of their attacking threats, and contrary to usual will be stronger at the back. As such, goals will be scarce in the tie. Expect no more than two goals.

Levante is also high on confidence, after having won against Betis with a 4-0 scoreline, just the last match-day. They are also on a scoring streak of eight fixtures and found the back of the net in four of their last five away ties.
