Juventus 1-2 Ajax Goals & Highlights [VIDEO]

Full-time: Juventus 1-2 Ajax (Agg: 2-3)

Ajax are through to their first Champions League semi-final since 1997 – before some of this team were born! And they thoroughly deserved their victory here. They outplayed Juventus: sharper, stronger, more skilful and totally swish. They were a joy to watch and neither Manchester City or Tottenham Hotspur will enjoy trying to beat them. But what a treat the semi-final will be to watch.

Goal! Miralem Pjanic sent in a fine cross from the corner kick. The perfect pass found Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) and his bullet header from around the penalty spot went straight into the right side of the goal. The score is 1:0.

67′ Lasse Schone takes over corner duties and expertly finds Matthijs de Ligt (Ajax), who jumps highest and coolly plants a bullet header into the left side of the goal. The score is now 1:2.

77′ Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) meets a cross just outside the area and gets in a strike from a promising position, but the shot is blocked by the defender. Juventus earn a corner.
75′ What a chance that is! Joao Cancelo swings the ball into the box, and Moise Kean (Juventus) gets in front of his man and powers his header just wide of the left post.
74′ David Neres (Ajax) latched on to an accurate pass deep into the box and attempted to fire the ball past the keeper, but the shot is way off target. What a miskick!

The young upstart Ajax team went to Turin to take on Italian giants Juventus, and they knocked them out of the Champions League. The final score was 2-1 thanks to goals from 19-year-old Matthijs de Ligt and 21-year-old Donny van de Beek, and a massive, historic win for Ajax who were able to overcome an early Cristiano Ronaldo headed goal off a corner kick to advance. It’s a massive statement from the Dutch club, who are having a renaissance amidst a boom of young talent. Much of that talent will soon move on to bigger clubs, but for now, they’re making a charge to the Champions League final. This is so fun.
