FC Bayern make an opening offer of €80m for Leroy Sane

Bayern Munich have reportedly made their opening offer for Leroy Sané after it has emerged that the German club have tabled a first bid for the Manchester City player.

That’s according to Sky Sports and the Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed that the Bundesliga champions have submitted an opening bid of a whopping €80m for the 23-year-old German winger and that ‘talks have started.’

Bayern Munich’s uppers are ready to release funds from the club’s war chest for manager Niko Kovač to overhaul his squad.

Both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry announced that they would be leaving the club at the end of the season, with Sane identified as one viable target alongside Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The City star has a contract that keeps him at the Etihad Stadium until 2021, though the Bavarians believe that they can tempt him to leave the club with the offer of consistent first-team football next season.

In fact, Germany manager Joachim Löw has already backed the former Schalke player to move to Bayern Munich, believing that it would be positive both for his club career and for his international side.

“I believe he feels quite good at Manchester City, but I don’t know what he’s currently thinking,” he told Bild.

“Bavaria is always a good destination. If the change does come about, it would be a good story for him and for us.
The Germany international made 47 appearances across all competitions in City’s title-winning season, scoring 16 times and assisting on 18 occasions.

Bayern Munich have already snapped up French World Cup winner Benjamin Pavard back in January after signing him on a five-year deal from VfB Stuttgart.
