Ajax’s Champions League dream may be over, but they should be immensely proud of what they’ve achieved in this season’s competition.
With an average age of just 24, the Dutch side exceeded all expectations by beating holders Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus to reach the semi-finals.
Such an exciting group of young players, and yet it’s set to be ripped apart this summer with Frenkie de Jong heading for Barcelona and Matthijs de Ligt tipped to follow suit.
Other players like Donny van de Beek and Hakim Ziyech have also been linked with Europe’s biggest clubs following outstanding campaigns.
Ziyech, 26, bagged his 21st goal of the season against Tottenham and it came just 11 minutes after he broke his fast for Ramadan.
