AS Roma vs Juventus

Roma halted their push for the Champions League football with a disappointing 1-1 draw away at Genoa in the previous round.

Juve celebrated a narrow 1-0 victory when teams locked horns in this term of Serie A back in late-December last year.

Claudio Ranieri has managed to improve Roma’s defensive displays since taking over Eusebio Di Francesco on the bench. La Lupa shipped just two goals in last five league games even though they played the likes of Sampdoria and Inter Milan in the process.

Juventus own competition’s best defensive record with only 25 goals allowed in 35 matches. Just one of past seven head to head encounters between the two sides saw three or more goals scored.

Roma vs Juventus Match Preview

Roma host reigning champions Juventus for their Matchday 36 clash on Sunday evening desperate for points to bounce back to the winning ways and challenge spots leading to Champions League, now sitting just three points behind 4th placed Atalanta and behind 5th placed AC Milan for their head-to-head records.

Giallorossi have been held off by Genoa (1-1) last week, where Stephan El Shaarawy brought the very late lead but Cristian Romero denied them points with a last-gasp equalizer.

While the chances for the top 4 have been dented a great deal, Claudio Ranieri’s men now have to hope for the best and just focus on performing.

Juventus have, on the other hand, secured the title with five games to go as they beat Fiorentina (2-1) in a narrow contest in front of the home fans. However, the celebrations were tainted by the Champions League disappointment and Max Allegri’s men seemingly struggled to shake it off.

Bianconeri have thus only shared the spoils with Inter (1-1) and Torino (1-1) in two outings where the rivals obviously had a lot more to play for.

They will now surely be motivated to keep up their unbeaten streak with an upset in Rome and we do see them making it happen.

We will now stick our necks out for a Draw, though, which comes at 5/2 with William Hill and looks like more than a lively longshot.

We don’t feel Roma have what it takes to outgun the rivals and we don’t really see Juventus snatching all three points either.

However, we should be in for a thriller tough to call until the last minutes and with that in mind, we hope to see goals! We’re thus going for a Yes on Both teams to score at 8/13 with bet365 – which has been rated buying money for old rope by many in the know.
