Brazil vs Peru Match Preview

Brazil have based their bid to regain the Copa America title on solid defending and are backed to enjoy another shutout against Peru before lifting the trophy.

Liverpool keeper Alisson has not conceded a goal since his club side’s win at Newcastle in early May and has now recorded nine consecutive shutouts, five of them at this tournament as Brazil have yet to be breached.

Brazil vs Peru Head-to-head (h2h)

  • Brazil won five of the last six matches.
  • The last time these two met, which was in this same tournament, a week back, the Brazilians won 5-0.
  • In the last 40 years, Peru has recorded just a single victory.
  • The Peruvians conceded two or more goals in five of the last six clashes.

One of those was in a 5-0 group-stage rout of Peru, who nevertheless advanced to the quarter-finals as the best third-placed team and have taken full advantage by subsequently getting past Uruguay, on penalties, and defending champions Chile.

The latter success in the semi-finals was particularly impressive, 3-0, but beating Brazil in the iconic Maracana Stadium would represent another big step up for the Incas, considering how easily they were swept aside in Sao Paulo two weeks ago.
