Genk vs Liverpool Match Preview

Pretty much Liverpool’s only weak link right now is their away record in Europe – and they may not find it easy to beat a Genk side who are very solid at home.

Although they enjoyed decisive victories away to Bayern Munich and Porto in last season’s knockout stage on their run to the Champions League title, the Reds can be vulnerable on their travels – they were beaten 3-0 by Barcelona in the semi-finals and have lost four in a row in the group stage to Napoli twice, Red Star Belgrade and Paris Saint-Germain.

In comparison to those venues, Genk does not sound too scary. But as the stats above indicate, only Roma back in 2002 have beaten the current Belgian champions on their own pitch in the Champions League group stage, Real Madrid heading the list of teams to have been held there which also includes Chelsea, Napoli, Valencia and Bayer Leverkusen.
