The Liverpool star, 28, has had a scintillating season with the Reds as he was named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and UEFA Men’s Player of the Year ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool have offered Van Dijk a new six-year deal that would see him pocket a whopping £200,000 per week.

The Dutch centre-back, who was snapped up from Southampton for an incredible £75m in January 2018, has his current deal with the club expiring in 2023.

But the Reds have offered him fresh terms on a new contract and his wages will soar up from £125,000 per week to £200,000 per week.

Van Dijk’s current deal does include bonus clauses and add-ons, relating to clean sheets and appearances, that pushed up his wages at Anfield.

The English centre-back, 26, has had an instant impact since his arrival at Old Trafford and became the most expensive defender in the world, eclipsing the £75m Liverpool splashed out on Van Dijk.
