Ajax have been off the radar somewhat in Europe in the last few years despite their history as one of the most successful teams in this competition. With more money heading into the bigger leagues than the Eredivisie, the Amsterdammers have struggled to compete financially since their Champions League win in the mid-1990s but this year they have stunned everyone to beat Real Madrid and Juventus in reaching the semi-final stage.
