There are legal and constitutional experts who believe “pre-emptive” pardons from presidents may not be valid. Let me go on record saying I think the Trump administration should test the theory using Dr. Anthony Fauci.
ou will recall he was one of several people preemptively pardoned by Joe Biden in the waning hours of his failed presidency. But Fauci hadn’t been convicted of any crime, much less charged. So – the theory goes – the ‘preemptive pardon’ should not be a thing because pardons are supposed to only be used to absolve someone of a criminal conviction.
If premptive pardons were successfully challenged before the Supreme Court, where such a challenge would ultimately wind up, then Fauci and the others would then be subjected to being charged for alleged crimes. And Fauci has a ton of them he should be answering for over his ties to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The man who spent four years assuring America the COVID vaccines were safe and effective apparently experienced one of their known adverse events himself — got the best private medical care the country offers — and continued publicly insisting such reactions weren’t happening.
RFK Jr. revealed the details on Fox News Monday night, drawing from Rand Paul’s release of Fauci’s personal diary entries. In January 2021, Fauci received his COVID vaccine at a very public press conference — cameras rolling, sleeves rolled up, setting the example for a reluctant nation. Five months later, according to the diary, Fauci suffered a pulmonary infarction. A blood clot in the lung. One of the adverse events that NIH, CDC, and FDA themselves identified as expected from the vaccine.
He never told anyone. He got treated privately by elite physicians. And he kept going on television telling Americans that those adverse events weren’t real — while he was personally recovering from one.
Let that land for a moment. Ordinary Americans who reported similar problems after vaccination were dismissed, mocked, called anti-vaxxers, and in many cases watched their social media accounts suspended for spreading “misinformation.” Fauci had a pulmonary infarction, quietly obtained the best medical care in the country, and resumed his public role as the authoritative voice telling everyone else their concerns were unfounded.
RFK Jr. didn’t mince words: “He lied about masks, he lied about social distancing, he lied about transmission, he lied about natural immunity, he lied about the capacity of the vaccine to prevent infection.” The pulmonary infarction fits the pattern perfectly — a man who lied about everything else wasn’t going to be transparent about his own adverse event when transparency would have validated the concerns of everyone he’d been dismissing.
The diary entries paint a portrait that is equally damning for a different reason. Fauci mused that he could call himself the most famous and talked-about person in America without exaggerating. Kennedy described a man whose “focus was on promoting himself, on getting on TV and not doing public health.” While children’s education was being destroyed, small businesses were dying, and Americans were losing their livelihoods over mandates Fauci championed, “America’s Doctor” was cataloging his own celebrity in a personal diary.
The result of his leadership? The United States recorded the highest COVID-19 mortality rate of any country in the world — roughly 3,000 deaths per million people. The wealthiest nation on earth, with the most advanced medical infrastructure, did worse than every other country. That’s Fauci’s actual record, stripped of the hero narrative the press spent four years constructing around him.
Fauci testifies before Congress Wednesday. If he repeats his pandemic falsehoods under oath, he could face perjury charges. Sen. Rand Paul(R-Ky.) has already laid the groundwork.
