Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 23 home league games against Southampton, stretching back to a 1-0 loss in November 1987.Nineteen of those matches have come in the Premier League era – the most a team has played away at another in the competition without ever picking up a victory.
The Saints won the reverse fixture 3-2 at St Mary’s Stadium in December, though, and they could complete their first league double over Arsenal since 1987-88 – a fixture famous for teenage striker Alan Shearer netting a hat-trick on his first start for the club.
