The shutdown is here, and it’s already pulling back the curtain on the Democrats’ favorite game: say one thing, do another, and hope the media covers for them.
Take this little gem: for the first time in history, we’re supposed to believe that the minority party—the Democrats—who blocked a clean continuing resolution, somehow aren’t responsible for the shutdown. Convenient, isn’t it? It’s the kind of upside-down logic only Washington could produce.
Meanwhile, the gaslighting has reached Olympic levels, with Democrats insisting they’re the victims here while everyone can see they’re the ones who tanked the vote.
On that front, one of the major points of contention is expiring COVID-era subsidies that were meant to prop up Obamacare and state-level Medicaid systems. Democrats are insisting they be extended while Republicans are rightly pointing out that emergency appropriations are meant for emergencies and should not be used to prop up the left’s Barack Obama-era healthcare disaster, otherwise known as the Affordable Care Act.
Further, because money is fungible, some of those subsidies end up filtering down to pay for healthcare for illegal immigrants. That’s become a primary point of contention, which brings me to the aforementioned gaslighting. Enter Sen. Jeanee Shaheen (D-NH), who walked right into a trap on Fox News when asked to account for the Democratic Party’s support for funding healthcare for illegal aliens.
ROLL THE TAPE:
SHAHEEN: I haven’t heard anyone in my party saying that illegal immigrants should get access to the health insurance marketplace.
FOX’S LAWRENCE JONES: I’m so glad you said that. Actually, I have some tape of your Democratic Party members saying this on the debate stage. So they’ve all said. Let’s play the clip.
Lawrence Jones didn’t have to dig deep to expose the hypocrisy. On air, he rolled the tape from a 2020 Democratic primary debate where the entire stage of Democratic hopefuls proudly raised their hands when asked if their healthcare plans would cover illegal immigrants. Not one hesitated. The kicker? The crowd erupted in cheers, giving away the game: this isn’t some fringe idea—it’s a core Democrat priority.
YIKES.
What are we even doing here? Everyone knows blue states funnel these subsidies into their own programs, which absolutely provide healthcare to illegal immigrants—paid for on the backs of law-abiding American taxpayers. Everything else is just word games. Democrats cry “lie” because the federal budget doesn’t literally say “line item: illegal immigrant healthcare.” That’s not honesty—that’s deliberate obfuscation.
And let’s not forget the bigger point: if Obamacare is such a failed scheme that it constantly needs billion-dollar bailouts to stay afloat, then it never should have existed in the first place. The so-called “healthcare cliff” Democrats keep whining about isn’t the GOP’s fault. Republicans tried to stop this train wreck years ago—it’s Democrats who built it.
The Obamacare chickens are finally coming home to roost. Taxpayers should not be forced to prop up failed Democrat programs year after year. We warned them this day would come, but instead of listening, the mainstream press smeared conservatives for daring to tell the truth.
Well, here we are. And I don’t see Republicans eager to punish their constituents with higher taxes just so Democrats can dodge accountability for their disastrous policies. If the left wants to keep Obamacare on life support, they’ll have to own the consequences—not shift the burden onto hardworking Americans.
