The 26-year-old is on course to break Alan Shearer’s record as the greatest Premier League goalscorer of all time and has already won three Golden Boots – two in the league, and one at the World Cup.
On top of that, Kane is the model professional off the pitch, marrying his childhood sweetheart earlier this year and generally living a quiet life.
However, it’s fair to say the England captain is not universally popular.
In February 2018, his reputation among Liverpool fans took a nosedive when he was at the heart of Spurs’ controversial 2-2 draw at Anfield.
The striker went down theatrically in the box under a challenge from Loris Karius and missed the resulting penalty.
Mohamed Salah then went up the other end and scored what looked like a fine winner – before Kane equalised from the spot with another penalty, this one awarded in equally dubious circumstances following contact on Erik Lamela.
The Tottenham stalwart also attracted criticism by trying to beat Salah to the Golden Boot that season – swearing on his daughter’s life that he had touched the ball when claiming a goal originally credited to Christian Eriksen. Spurs even appealed to the Premier League.
