Poor Gavin Newsom — the slick, self-absorbed California Democrat who just can’t help himself.
After nearly six years of running the once-Golden State straight into the ground — from skyrocketing crime and homelessness to crumbling infrastructure and fleeing businesses — Newsom still struts around like he’s America’s next savior. You can see it in every smirk and soundbite. The guy wants to be president so badly he’s probably already been shopping for Oval Office curtains.
Add to that the undeniable fact that President Donald Trump lives rent-free in Gavin Newsom’s head 24/7, and it’s anyone’s guess what the smug California governor will do next.
In one of his most on-brand, self-congratulatory stunts yet, “Hair Gel” himself took to the global stage at the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil to announce a brand-new “climate partnership” — with Nigeria, of all places.
Here’s the problem: Nigeria is currently one of the deadliest places on Earth for Christians. The systematic slaughter of believers there has reached horrifying levels. Between 2019 and 2023 alone, nearly 17,000 Nigerian Christians were killed in targeted attacks — more than any other country in the world.
And yet, while that humanitarian nightmare rages on, Newsom is out there preening for cameras and cutting deals so he can look “presidential.” It’s not about moral leadership or human rights — it’s about image. The California Democrat seems far more interested in polishing his global brand ahead of an expected 2028 White House run than in standing up for the victims of religious persecution.
To make matters worse, this all comes just weeks after President Trump’s administration reinstated Nigeria’s designation as a Country of Particular Concern, reviving a policy Trump first implemented during his first term — and one that the Biden administration shamefully scrapped.
In a post to X on Wednesday, Newsom — clearly trying to look “presidential” — bragged about his new agreement while showering himself with praise. It was classic Gavin: all ego, all optics, and zero awareness of how tone-deaf the whole thing looked given what’s actually happening:
California just teamed up with Nigeria on a new climate partnership at #COP30 — focused on cleaner transportation, climate adaptation, and cutting pollution.
Real action, global collaboration!
What a guy. If only he cared enough to push through clean-up and rebuilding after the disastrous and deadly Pallisades fire.

Researchers traced a worsening trend of violence, abductions of clergy, and mass displacements, warning that government denial constitutes complicity given the overwhelming evidence that the crisis meets the legal threshold for genocide under Article II of the UN Genocide Convention.
Trump cited atrocious numbers—thousands of Nigerian Christians killed, churches destroyed—and called for urgent congressional attention and possible sanctions, making it clear that the U.S. could not simply stand by as these atrocities unfolded. Trump’s statement and ensuing endorsements from congressional leaders signaled a renewed willingness to apply diplomatic and economic pressure in defense of persecuted Christians.
And there you have it.
While Gavin Newsom is busy preening on the world stage, promoting California’s so-called “collaborative model” as some grand global blueprint for fighting climate change, President Trump and his congressional allies are focused on something that actually matters — protecting religious freedom and calling out Nigeria’s horrific persecution of Christians.
One side is chasing headlines and photo ops; the other is defending human rights and standing up for people being slaughtered for believing in the “wrong” religion. Go figure.
This guy can’t be allowed anywhere near the presidency.
