California’s election system is a mess. It’s messy by design, too, by the way. When Gavin Newsom was elected governor nearly 8 years ago, voters knew within a few hours of the polls closing. But over the course of the next several years, he and the Democrat supermajority steadily implemented the current system. Now it takes weeks and sometimes a month or more to count ballots.
It’s so awful but we know why they set it up this way. Shotgunning ballots to ‘every eligible voter’ on the voter rolls is a sure-fire way to establish a fraudulent system that ensures your party never loses again.
The Trump Justice Department is investigating and there is an effort by the DOJ to audit the state’s voter rolls. But GOP Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida has proposed another way to force California to stop the cheating:
Again, there are other things in motion here, but Luna’s idea is a good start.
Another reason this is a great idea. Gavin Newsom wants to be president, and you can bet Vice President Vance or whomever secures the nomination will be bringing up this voting fiasco.
Of course, lots of Democrats, including Newsom, claim that California pays a lot in federal taxes.
Okay – so what’s your point, Gavin? Red states don’t have record homelessness, the highest rents and taxes in the nation, and a high-speed rail boondoggle. Also, they can count their ballots the same night.
His pitch seems to be, “Your states suck and I can fix them.” Good luck with that message.
