Two Bidens have now suggested — on separate occasions, on the record, with their names attached — that someone may have given Joe Biden a drug before his disastrous June 2024 debate performance. The first was Hunter. The second, now, is Jill.In an interview with podcast host Jamie Kern Lima, Jill Biden was asked whether her husband might have had his drink laced before the debate that effectively ended his presidency. Her answer was not “absolutely not.” It was not “that’s a crazy conspiracy theory.” It was: “Who knows? Who knows?”
She added that she wasn’t with him days or weeks before the debate — she was on the road — and only saw him about an hour before he walked onto the stage. She said he was tired. She said he didn’t feel well. She said there was “nothing definitive” she could point to. And then she declined to rule out that someone had interfered with his mental state before the most consequential two hours of his political career.
Hunter said it more directly. In a prior interview, he described his father being given Ambien to sleep during the punishing travel schedule in his final year of campaigning, then waking up and walking on stage looking like “a deer in the headlights.” There are no public records of Biden being prescribed Ambien. Hunter said it anyway.
The National Library of Medicine warns that Ambien poses special risks for elderly patients — including increased risk of delirium, severe confusion, difficulty focusing, and changes in awareness. The American Geriatrics Society lists it as a medication to avoid in adults over 65 whenever possible.
The debate produced Biden appearing to lose his train of thought mid-sentence, delivering word salad about Medicare, and ending one response with the phrase “we finally beat Medicare” — a line so disconnected from reality that Trump’s instant quip was “he’s right, he beat Medicaid — beat it to death.”
President Trump, it should be noted, repeatedly called for drug testing of both candidates ahead of the debate. Biden’s campaign called the suggestion “desperate.” The media called it baseless. Now Biden’s own wife won’t rule out that someone tampered with his state of mind before that evening.
Let’s be clear about what all of this is building toward. If Joe Biden was given a drug — whether deliberately by a bad actor or negligently by his own medical team — and the American people weren’t told, that is a scandal of the highest order. A sitting president of the United States potentially compromised before a nationally televised debate, while his handlers publicly insisted he was sharp and ready to serve four more years.
Trump demanded drug tests. Biden’s campaign said no. Now his wife says “who knows.”
